Biography
Gisela O'Brien supports the Center's research, curriculum, and professional development focused on English Learners, providing technical assistance for bilingual and dual immersion programs statewide. A lifelong educator, she has experience as a bilingual teacher, curriculum specialist, and staff developer in literacy and ELD. Dr. O'Brien has advised at state and national levels on Language Arts and Second Language instruction, and has published on bilingual education and staff development. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from USC and an M.S. in Educational Leadership from CSULA. As an Affiliated Faculty member at LMU, she teaches courses on reading, writing, and second language learning methods.
