Biography

Persisting on with her 3rd year of teaching service in the Texas-México border, she proudly teaches 4th grade Dual Language at PSJA ISD. She received her Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in both Bilingual Education and Mexican American Studies from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and is currently pursuing her M.Ed in Bilingual Education with a concentration in Biliteracy. Carolina received the NABE Student of the Year award in 2019 and is the 2025 RGV TABE Teacher of the Year for Bilingual/Dual Language Education. As a life-long English Language learner and immigrant, she advocates with and for students and families to abrir caminos and amplify their voices. She has the privilege to serve as the NABE Awards Committee Chair and expand passion in emotional intelligence and leveraging our bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural superpowers.
