Over the last 10 years, Sara K Bolster, has been an innovative educator in an urban public school in Wisconsin. She has focused on technology incorporated units, project-based learning, art influenced lessons, students’ choice, and advocating for her English Learners in a bilingual program. She wrote her master’s thesis on “Project-Based Learning in a Science Class, in an Urban Public School”. Sara graduated with her Doctorate in K-12 Educational Leadership from Alverno College. Her dissertation topic was “Bilingual Teachers Embracing Translanguaging in an Urban Public School”. Sara’s hope is that this work can influence urban districts to train staff on the effects of teachers embracing translanguaging in their classrooms, especially with bilingual students. Sara is creative and unique in the way that she incorporates all student learning styles, and options of student choice in her units.
