Aldine ISD
Eva Carrillo-Iñiguez, M.A.Ed., currently serves as the Director of Multilingual Special Programs in Aldine ISD located in Houston. She works with the Two-Way Dual Language Program and the Newcomer Program for secondary students. As part of the district’s federal initiatives she coordinates the Parent Leadership Academy or academia de liderazgo para padres de familia. The academy is committed to developing the advocacy skills of parents to empower them to lead their families and become community leaders. Over the past eighteen years, Mrs. Carrillo-Iñiguez has worked in traditional ISDs and charter school districts where she has had the opportunity to serve as program director of LPAC compliance, assistant principal, dean of instruction, LPAC administrator, testing coordinator, instructional coach and bilingual teacher. Prior to becoming a classroom teacher she worked with Project GRAD, the same organization that awarded her a scholarship in high school and made it possible for her to pursue a college degree. She also worked for the only children’s shelter in Texas with a fully bilingual staff dedicated to working with Spanish monolingual and bilingual children who were not able to stay in their homes. Mrs. Carrillo-Iñiguez is passionate about working with children, the preservation of language and culture and helping others. She hopes to one day have the opportunity to create or work with an organization dedicated to helping children and animals in need.
