Dr. Michael Whitacre, is currently the Director for Educator Preparation Programs and Associate Professor of Bilingual Education at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He graduated with an Ed. D in Bilingual Education in 2007 from The Texas A&M University Kingsville. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Reading, Bilingual Education, and Educational Technology and his research interest and area of expertise is on bilingual education and the use of technology in the classroom. Dr. Whitacre incorporates the use of technology as part of his instructional tools during regular face to face instruction as well as the expectation that students will integrate the use of technology into their assignments. Additionally, he has taught several undergraduate courses completely online as well has developed a graduate level online course. He has also completed the Quality Matters blueprinting and training for On-Line instruction. Dr. Whitacre actively participates and delivers conference papers in national and international conferences like The Society for Information Technology and Technology Education, and the National Association of Bilingual Educators to name a few. His research work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the International Journal of Instruction, International Journal of Instructional Technology & Distance Learning, and the International Journal of Instructional Media. Dr. Whitacre has experience as an external consultant and has provided professional development in the areas of Bilingual Education, Dual Language, Reading, Vocabulary Development, and Cooperative Learning and for several school districts of the region and the States of Texas, Illinois, and
