This research-based presentation will provide an overview of students’ outcomes in the areas of bilingualism, biliteracy, sociocultural competence, and critical consciousness in dual language bilingual education (DLBE) based on the literature. This presentation will discuss various discourses and hegemonic influences negatively affecting minoritized students. Educators and administrators will learn how to identify and address these discourses and influences more effectively to promote equity and excellence in DLBE for all students.
