A Diverse Learner teacher created and published culturally relevant literature for use in a one-way dual language special education classroom. To promote culturally relevant short stories and foster an understanding of diverse themes in the special education setting, the teacher drew inspiration from her own cultural background to craft the stories and promote diversity, uniqueness, and acceptance. Using literacy to express students' feelings about their experiences in the chosen themes proved beneficial. This mode of expression facilitated open conversations and encouraged the students to embrace differences among people, warming their hearts in the process.
