In accordance with the Multilingual California 2030 Initiative, we present a comprehensive overview of the groundbreaking creation and implementation of the University Seal of Biliteracy & Cultural Competence program at a Southern California University in partnership with key Bilingual Education stakeholders .
Participants will learn how this unique partnership collaborated to develop and implement a unique pathway for valuing and honoring students’ heritage language(s) at the university level. This partnership has established a precedent for students’ multilingual and intercultural competence recognition beyond K-12 education, at the university level. In this session, we will also present testimonios shared at the inaugural USBCC Awards ceremony, from graduates' families/parents and students about the profound significance of cultivating and sustaining a vibrant and inclusive multilingual environment in higher education.
