Biography
Maria Torres is a graduate student in the Multilingual and Multicultural Studies program at Texas Woman's University. Maria's research focuses on asset-based multicultural and multilingual pedagogies and how they enhance students' identity and academic performance. She presented her research “Applying Translanguaging and Identity Pedagogy to Enhance Newcomers' Learning and Language Development” at the 2023 Bilingual and ESL Educators Association of the Metroplex conference. Maria aims to spread awareness on best supporting multilingual students using evidence-based pedagogies to enhance their learning and identity in the classroom.
